Taitung City Guide

The area around the lake is home to the one of the aboriginal tribes of Taiwan. The east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon. It is very hazy today whether that is the heat or pollution, who knows. Lilly suggests the pollution could well come from China.
Followed by a trip to the Seashore Park not far away and a drive around the city. Park the car and walk around the centre of the city looking for a restaurant and taking in the sights of the night market, mainly fruiterers. Getting nearly back to the car we see the Sheraton Hotel and poke 台東名產 our nose in hoping they have a restaurant. Turns out they have two and we have a decent meal in their Chinese Restaurant. Much easier driving today with Lilly navigating and me starting to feel more comfortable with driving on the right, getting used to the car and the road signs etc.

This place could be called scooter city, they are everywhere, scooting past you on each side sometimes so quick that one false move and they would be curtains. So it’s imperative to hold your line in the traffic and give plenty of warning to change lanes. Traffic is much quicker than in Japan, margins are small, drivers more flamboyant but still mostly very considerate.
Pleasant place for a family stroll during the early evening. I believe weekend evenings are more interesting with special exhibitions and events (we were there on a Saturday night - so there were stalls set up to sell handmade craft and local delicacies). There are containers turned into cafes and shops selling souvenir and crafts and cafes.
It provides 3.5-star accommodation with air-conditioned rooms. The night market was not open on Wednesday, so we walked around instead. There are a lot of Hot ballon shape lanterns on both side of the street. Frankly speaking, not too many choices to go or eat in Taichung City.

When I saw the wish on the square, I wished to take off on the main body of the sky lantern, which was completely different from the traditional traditional sky lanterns. The Polaris sky lanterns cost 150 yuan each, and can be brought back as a souvenir after the postcard is scanned. The upstream of the early waterfall is the place where the copper mine is deposited. Good place to walk around if you like art sculptures. Was reading about it, and sounds like an interesting place to walk around. I'm still trying to work out where to go in Kaohsiung, as the main attraction seems to be Dragon Tiger Pagoda. Still working out what to buy as well that is unique to Kaohsiung .
